Running the Game on Modern OS
- Safedisc compatibility tool, SafeDiscShim is required to run the game on Windows 10 or higher since Windows 10/11 no longer supporting Safedisc driver, which the game uses.
- In case the screen is borked or the game crashes after the opening video, DirectDraw wrapper DLLs such as CnC DDraw or dgVoodoo may fix the issue
- Setting the system locale to Japanese is required when installing the game to avoid potential Shift-JIS encoding related installation error. Switching to Japanese system locale or using Locale Emulator app is required to play the game as well.
Running the Game on Linux via Wine
- There are few reports of the game (with Extra Kit installed) being playable on Linux through Wine. The settings used is the following:
- Wine version used: Wine 7 or Proton 7 using 32 bit prefix
- Set to Japanese system locale (LC_ALL = ja_JP.utf8)
- Windows Compatibility version: Windows XP
- Dependencies installed: dmusic, dsound, dwave, ffdshow, qsf, qcap, qdvd, qedit, quartz, d3d8, ddraw (both through dgvoodoo)
- Known issue: Movie playback isn't working, but still can be skipped by left clicking the game window
Running the game Through Virtual Machine
Japanese Windows XP + VMWare Workstation Pro
- Prepare a hdd installed with Japanese version of Windows XP
- Set up a CD-ROM drive through VMWare settings or use virtual drive utility like DAEMON Tools Lite to mount the game disc image
- Install the game through setup program
