VE-WEBV Ship "Isokaze" (ブイ・ウェッブ艦《いそかぜ》)
This prototype ship was secretly built by Japan behind the scenes of joint US-Japan project. Uses the hull from "Isokaze".
Variable Armament Ship VE-WEBV (可変兵装艦ブイ・ウェッブ)
Abbreviation for "Variable Equipment: Weapon, Engine and Bridge Vessel". A ship class with modular system that can be replaced depending on the situation.
Aegis of Fallen Nation (亡国の盾/ボウコクノイージス)
A paper published online by a National Defense Academy student which questioned Japan's defense system and became the point of origin of the "Isokaze Incident".
Aegis System (イージスシステム)
This state of the art processing system processes information from high performance radar and sonar through computers, allows engaging multiple targets simultaneously.
Defence Agency Information Service/DAIS (防衛庁情報局 《ダイス》)
Classified intelligence agency belonging to Japan Defence Agency. Also known as "Ichigaya", after its HQ's location.
Ichigaya (市ヶ谷)
Slang term for "DAIS". The name originates from the place Ministry of Defense's headquarters is at.
Akasaka (赤坂)
Codeword refering to CIA agents operating in Japan. The name originates from location of the US embassy where the CIA Far East Branch is located.
Central Intelligence Agency/CIA (アメリカ中央情報局)
US' intelligence agency which operates directly under the President of the United States. Due to its unique position, it often carries operations that US government unable to openly undertake.
CIC/Combat Information Center
The central hub of destroyer's control center, where the commander takes command during combat. It presence is also vital for electronic warfare and fire control. During combat it processes and gathers vast amount of information.
Emergency Command Post (応急指揮所)
This is the location where command and control functions are dispersed in case of emergency. It's also called "DC" or "Damage Control"
GUSOH (グソー)
These biological-chemical weapons were created during the development of new energy sources. They possesses high lethality and lifespan, and the only means of detoxification is through incineration at 6000 degrees Celcius, making them difficult to deal with.
BC Weapons (BC兵器)
A general term for Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Weapons. Under international law, both manufacturing and use are strictly prohibited. Often refers to poison gas, biological weapons, etc.
Soft Kill (ソフト・キル)
This refers to anti-missile defense measure that uses chaff or similar methods to disrupt and neutralize an incoming missile's systems
Hard Kill (ハード・キル)
This refers to anti-missile defense measure through physical attacks such as vulcan cannons and missiles
ECM/Electronic Counter Measures
Electronic jamming device. It can disrupt enemy's radar, making it impossible to obtain information of our own forces, while also neutralizes enemy capabilities.
ECCM/Electronic Counter Counter Measures
Electronic counter measures against ECM. A system that takes further countermeasure against countermeasures employed by the enemy
Chaff (チャフ)
This weapon system disperses metal fragments such as aluminium foil or wire into the air to disrupt enemy missile guidance and radar
Seamanship (シーマンシップ)
Qualities and mindset beffiting as a seaman. This includes not only cultivating mindset of a seaman, but also knowledge and physical abilities required to put it into practice
Chonlima Fleet (千里馬艦隊/チョンリマカンタイ)
A fleet that seized special vessels from the JMSDF, claiming to be working towards restoration of their homeland. They're led by an enigmatic mastermind proclaiming himself as Ho Yong-Hwa
TPex/Thermite Plus Extra
An improved version of special incendiary bomb, "Thermite Plus". It's a thermal weapon with even greater destructive power.
The Incident from 30 Years Ago (30年前の事件)
This refers to the incident in which the destroyer "Isokaze" was seized by rogue JMSDF officer "Hirotaka Miyazu" and an agent from certain country, "Ho Yong-Hwa"
Missile Boat (ミサイル艇)
A high speed vessel designed for missile operations. Typically operated for coastal patrol roles.
Minesweeper Tender (掃海母艦)
A ship that performs support roles for minesweeper, including resupply, maintenance, and providing R&R for their crews. It also lays mines for training purposes.
Destroyer "Tsunashima" (護衛艦《つなしま》)
A destroyer belonging to the JMSDF. It was transformed into floating coffin by GUSOH.
Detoxification Operation (解毒作業)
A process to neutralize GUSOH exposure through incineration using TPex.
European Union/EU
An union of European countries. It aims not only for economical integration, but also political, military and social as a whole.
Asia Union/AU
A coalition of Asian countries. However, Japan isn't a member.
Middle East Africa Union/MEAU
An union primarily consists of African and Middle Eastern countries.
A fleet centered around large strategic carriers, covering Western Pacific and the waters off Asia. Its home port is Sasebo. It possesses a new type of VE-WEBV-class ship.
Link24 (リンク・ツーフォー)
JMSDF's data link system. The system directly connects and operates in conjunction with computers of the command center, destroyers and US Navy 8th Fleet.
System L (システムL)
A new type of anti-submarine tracking device. It can visualize and display the data of seabed. Commonly known as the "Aegis of the Deep Sea".
SIF (Selective Identification Feature)
Selective type Identification Friend or Foe device. A device that identifies friend or foe regardless it reacts to a specific signal.
SAM (Ship-to-Air Missile)
Abbreviation for Surface-to-Air Missile. A missile launched from a ship against an aerial target. It's used not only to intercept aircraft but also missiles.
Jamming (ジャミング)
General term for radio wave based jamming. These powerful electromagnetic waves cause radar interference and communication disturbance.
Absolute Monarchy (絶対王制)
A system that places a "King" as the foundation of the country. It's a political system where the king freely governs the people without being restricted by other powers.
Conglomerate (コングロマリット)
A conglomerate is formed through integration and growth of companies that were previously unrelated in terms of industry or business operations.
Development Bureau (開発局)
Refers to US Agency for Scientific Research and Development. It may also get involved with development of classified military weapons.
Apotheosis V (アポトーシスV)
A computer virus weapon developed by the Self Defense Forces. The research continues despite having officially sealed off due to Henoko destruction.
AI
A computer that incorporates human-like intelligence. In the context of this story, it refers to autonomous program.
